This page looks good. It's a shame that Sven and Sarah are such minor characters, I really like their designs. Sarah's especially. I plan on using Sarah for the 250 comic special though. And yes, she does have one blue and one grey eye.

Unfortunately, this is the only page these two appear in this chapter. At least directly. Unless K.K. decides to add them in as filler characters in the background of a page or two. Which I doubt. I had every intention of having them appear throughout, but I just couldn't find a place for them without making the chapter needlessly long. I figured people would be more interested in Kai and Stephanie anyways.

The Chapter 6 Final Mix is finally here, thanks to some wonderful work by the voice of Kai Ren, Reputator. And now, a message from our sponsor. (<.<)

=====================================

Fans of The Lone Swordsman, I'm very proud to finally present to you the culmination of many weeks of accumulative and meticulous work. As of right now, over 50 of you have registered TLS to your favorites, and on behalf of Sol, KK, and everyone involved in this ongoing project, I'd like to thank each of you for staying with us as Kai Ren's story slowly unfolds.

Since being given the privilege of voicing Kai Ren at the start of Chapter 6 - Serenity, I've felt the voice tracks needed to be presented in as dramatic and fleshed out a way as possible. After reading Sol's story of Kai and his epic struggle through the course of the series, it seemed appropriate that as Sol's intention was to expound on the gravity of those issues in order to allow the readers to better relate to the characters in the TLS universe, that we should present the voice tracks in the best light possible. So soon after we started the voicing of these characters, Sol had the idea of creating a final mix at the end of the chapter, and I offered to do it. The goal was to bring everything together, and provide the backgrounds and staging for what I hoped would be the most engaging realization of Sol's dialog thus far.

The final mix will be what I hope is a continuous episodic bookend to each forthcoming chapter installment. Along with the final mix I may add a few author comments on a few of the techniques I used. In this particular mix, I borrowed heavily from the soundtrack to the game Bioshock, one of the most theatrical and cinematic games in recent years, and whose music is some of the best I've heard ever composed for the medium. In a lot of places it sets the mood like nothing else could. Other sources of music include various ambient, movie and anime soundtracks, many cut so that various changes in each track correspond to important pieces of dialog. The echo effects were created using the EAX (Environmental Audio Extensions) feature of Creative Sound Blaster series sound cards, and the various sound effects were provided by The Free Sound Project (http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/). In some cases I added supplemental voices where either there were none or weren't many in the original audio tracks. Everything was mixed together via Audacity (which crashed many, many times on me before I could save my progress :p). Here is a complete list of the music credits (in order of appearance):

The Electric Joe Satriani - Joe Satriani - Why
Bioshock Score - Garry Schyman - Step Into My Gardens
Heat Soundtrack - Moby - God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters
Lifeforce Soundtrack - Henry Mancini - Theme
Bioshock Score - Garry Schyman - Main Theme
Exploring The Tributaries - Vibrasphere - EnsueƱo
Trilogy - ATB - No Fate
Airdrawndagger - Sasha - Mr. Tiddles
.hack//SIGN OST - Yuki Kajiura and See-Saw - Interlude
Bioshock Score - Garry Schyman - The Engine City

In the end I'm quite happy with the results, and I hope you all will be too. If this helps to enhance your enjoyment of this series, then our efforts have been a success.

Thanks for listening!

Chapter 6 - Final Mix

==================================

Sol's Comments: I wouldn't mind some feedback about what people thought about the whole Voice Acting thing. I wasn't sure about it at first, because people tend to develop in their heads what they think a character should sound like, and they can get disappointed when it sounds differently. But I really felt it helped enhance things. But what did you think?

P.S. Looks like Double K's making a comeback XD.

P.P.S. Be patient with the audio clip, it's around 17.5 Megs. If it's taking too long for you, then feel free to e-mail me and I'll send it to you.

He makes it sound as if I'm lazy. Which is true, so, no, they aren't likely to be showing up then.

I screwed up Sarah's design. She's a bit more thin than a normal human being would be. I like her hair dealy though.

*Edit: Seriously, if you call me Double K, I have to quit. It's just really really annoying.

By the way... Her hair thing is designed off of one of the girls from the manga "DOUBT"

I want a Rabbit Doubt cell phone strap so badly.... http://www.onemanga.com/Doubt/6/ad/

Anyways, another manga I'm reading is Mirai Nikki [Future Diary] - it's... um.... ^^" well, see for yourself: http://www.onemanga.com/Mirai_Nikki/

I wasn't sure about the Double K thing, but it sounded kinda cheesy to actually say "KK".

Reply Pandachu, 11 Apr 2008

WHOA!!! OAO That whole soundtrack just made that whole chapter like, a buzmillion times better! DX and it was already way cool before, so . . . well, I'm not that good at math, but I'd say it was pretty freaking magnificent! The music and effects really were nice, and just everything put together was mind blowing. . .wow. . .

Reply K.K., 11 Apr 2008

Yeah, don't care. Don't say my name then.

Reply Reputator, 11 Apr 2008

ooookaaay.....

Ease off a little, K.K., he didn't know.

Don't worry Rep, I called him that once too, back when TLS was being hosted by Comic Genesis. I would say a bit about what K.K. means, but he's the Internet Ninja, so I'm not sure if he wants me saying anything.

Double K is a dumb nickname. </blunt opinion.>

I'm downloading the file right now - can't wait to hear!

I was so close to decide on trying out for Kid Kai or one of the girls a couple weeks ago, but ended up getting lazy and never recording. XD

EDIT: Wow! It sounds great, Reputator! I do indeed like the BGM tracks you used. Truth be told, I haven't listened to every page's clip but having it all wrapped together sounded nice.

I'm of that opinion cuz if a nickname is longer than the actual name, it's a waste of time, anyways.

Reply jaffar255, 12 Apr 2008

I agree with amjam, Double K is a bad nickname. Sounds like some bad radio DJ's nickname.

And yeah, if the nickname is longer than the actual name, it's sorta a pointless nickname...

Good page though KK, love the drawings!

EDIT: Is it just me, or is it REALLY weird that all 3 of those siblings have different hair colors >_>

Reply Sol, 12 Apr 2008

Random Character Fact: Sarah's hair is dyed that colour.
